Edgerton Branch Library Summer Reading 2024

The Edgerton Branch Library will begin their summer reading programs on June 5th and finish July 31st.  “Adventure Begins at Your Library” and this year there will be stories, games, activities, music and special visitors all included in the summer fun, including themed programs and prizes! Kids, take part in a Summer Reading Challenge! Stop in anytime during open hours June 5th-July 31st to pick up a "Summer Reading Tracker: Adventure at Your Library" for Pre-Readers (Age 0-Pre-K) and K-12th Graders. Fun prizes awarded to participants who attend Edgerton library programs, complete summer challenges, and of course READ!!! A "Mystery Grand Prize" will also be awarded by a drawing that will take place after August 9th:

Summer Reading Kickoff!, June 5th, 1:00PM 

Miss Lauren, Naturalist from Ohio State Parks talks to us about animals in nature! Make wildflower seed balls & get a look at some of the small animals Lauren will bring along. Ice cream served! Register. 

Summer Reading Program: Get Ready for Adventure, June 12th, 2:00PM  

Join us as we start our adventure by reading “The Highest Mountain of Books in the World” by Rocio Bonilla, & build our own mountain out of books! Kids will gear up by receiving a safari hat, adventurer vest & bag that they can decorate while enjoying a snack. Register. 

LEGO Building Time: Brick Ballot Edition, June 12th & 19th, 3:00PM                                

 Get creative & competitive! Make themed LEGO builds, & put one of your creations on display for a week, where library patrons will vote for their favorite build. Winners of each division (kids, teen, adult) of each “Brick Ballot” will get a picture of their build put into the LEGO Hall of Fame book! Open to all ages.

Back by popular demand Come see amazing animals up close and personal! 

Summer Fun Day at Miller Park Pavilion, June 21st, 12:00PM –4:00PM                               

Visit with Outreach Manager Loni Smith; play yard games, listen to music and story time. Ride in Furry Oversized Animal Karts from Four of a Kind Entertainment from 12pm to 3pm. There will be a free book giveaway and free bottled water while supplies last.

Summer Reading Program: Hot Air Balloon Adventure, June 27th, 2:00PM                     

Join us as we take to the skies while reading “And Away We Go” by Migy, play a “Hot Air” edition of  “What Time Is It, Mr. Fox?” decorate 3D hot air balloon lanterns, and enjoy an adventurer snack. Register. 

Bingo for Books, June 26th, 3:30PM                                                                                   

Kids ages 6+ get a Bingo and win a new book of your choice to take home! Register.  

Kids Adventure Scavenger Hunt: Quest for the Golden Gecko!, June 28th, 3:30PM               

Young adventurers will be tasked with using compasses, flashlights, & other exploration gear to solve a series of puzzles to locate “The Golden Gecko” . Register.

Join us as we set sail while reading “The Treasure of Pirate Frank” by Mal Peet, play “Cannonball Cleanup”, create “Fish-tastic Wind Chimes”, and enjoy an adventurer snack. Register.

Summer Reading Program: Wilderness Adventure, July 10th, 2:00PM 

Join us as we journey into the wild as we read "Howard the Average Gecko” by Wendy Meddour, play “Find the Camouflaged Creatures”, paint a wild animal on pre-drawn canvas, & enjoy a snack! Register. 

Summer Reading Program: Airplane Adventure, July 17th, 2:00PM                                  

Join us as we soar to new heights as we read “Those Magnificent Sheep and Their Flying Machine” by Peter Bentley. Assemble/decorate your own DIY wooden Painting Airplane. Then we’ll test out our aviation  skills as we fly paper airplanes through a variety of obstacles. Enjoy an adventurer snack! Register. 

Summer Reading Program: Ranger Adventure, July 24th, 2:00PM                                    

Join us as we get into Ranger mode by reading “Forest Tracks” by Dee Dee Duffy. Play a game of “tracking the tracks” and paint wood forest animals. Enjoy an adventurer snack! Register. 

Summer Reading Program: Camp Out Adventure, July 31st, 2:00PM                                

Join us for camping fun as we read “Don’t Feed the Bear” by Kathleen Doherty. Play a game of “picnic cleanup” and make a Glow in the Dark Firefly Jar. Enjoy an adventurer snack! Register.
