WCPL Closed for Memorial Day

The Williams County Public Library with branches in Bryan, Edgerton, Edon, Pioneer, Stryker, and West Unity will be closed on Monday, May 31st in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.


UPCOMING IN-PERSON & ONLINE PROGRAMS

Edgerton Branch Library “ROCKS”!

The Edgerton Branch Library will hold a town wide scavenger hunt through the month of May, open to all ages! Fun and colorful Library rocks have been painted and hidden around Edgerton, by library staff, for you to go on a hunt and find. When a library rock is found, return it to Edgerton Branch Library to receive a prize! Open hours, starting May 3rd, are 9am to 6pm, Mondays through Thursdays, and 9am to noon on Fridays. The Edgerton Branch Library is located at 319 N. Michigan Avenue. For more information, please call the library at 833-633-7323 x 2.


West Unity Branch Library Garden Club

Kids and teens are invited to join the Garden Club at West Unity Branch Library! The club will meet each Wednesday at 3pm, starting on May 5th, and running through the fall harvest. Participants will plan out what to plant in the West Unity Branch Library garden, take care of weeding and watering the garden beds, do garden crafts, and other activities that involve gardening. Bloomin' Reads at West Unity Branch Library

The West Unity Branch Library will hold the Bloomin’ Reads book bundle program, starting on May 3rd, and ending on May 28th. Kids and teens are invited to participate in the fun! Simply visit the library and look for a bundle of books with a flower tag to check out. Staff will remove the flower from the bundle, and put your name on the tag so it can be added to the flower garden wall. All flowers will be entered to win a prize drawing. There is no limit to the number of flowers you may earn.
The West Unity Branch Library is located at 109 S. High Street. For more information on the Bloomin’ Reads program, contact 833-633-7323 x 6.


May WCPL Book Club Meetings

If you love to read and discuss books, you are invited to participate and be a part of the many book clubs offered by Williams County Public Library. Various WCPL branches host monthly meetings for their clubs. Registration is required to attend. The upcoming meeting schedule is as follows:

MAY 2021

Thursday, May 06 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm: Murder by the Book, at Bryan Main Library, will go over “A Great Reckoning" by Louise Penny.

Wednesday, May 12 at 1:00 pm: The Edgerton Branch Library adult book club, Open Horizons, will talk on, "The Weight of Silence” by Heather Gudenkauf.

Wednesday, May 19 at 2:00 pm: The West Unity Branch Library book club, All Booked Up, will be talking about "Sold on Monday" by Kristina McMorris.

Wednesday, May 19 at 7:00 pm: The Edon Branch Library club, Page Turners, will talk on "Becoming" by Michelle Obama.

Thursday, May 20 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm: Novel Ideas, at Bryan Main Library, will go over “The Dutch House" by Ann Patchett.

Monday, May 24 at 1:00 pm: The Stryker Branch Library’s OverReaders Anonymous adult book club, will talk over "Home Sweet Home" by Fern Michaels.

Thursday, May 27 at 7:00 pm: The Edon Branch Library murder mystery book club, Murder in the Library will meet to discuss, "Stillhouse Lake" by Rachel Caine.

If you are interested in joining any of these book clubs, stop in to the WCPL branch where the book club is located, register to attend the next meeting, and pick up a copy of the book to be discussed at the library desk! You can also register by calling WCPL at  833-633-7323.

 

Weekly YouTube & Facebook Live Events

Tune into facebook.com/mywcpl for weekly YouTube & Facebook Live events from Williams County Public Library! Weekly events are as follows:

Make It Monday: Each Monday at 5:00 pm we will be making a craft, science experiment, or cooking up an easy recipe. All projects will be for families to do together! 

Story Time Online: Listen to books being read by Miss Heather, from the West Unity Branch Library, who will also demonstrate a fun craft! Tune in on Tuesdays at 10:30 am.

Lay Me Down to Rest: This YouTube series explores the history, features, and tales connected to the 63 cemeteries in our county, with details shared by WCPL Programming Manager, Denver Henderson. A new episode is realeased each Tuesday at 3:00pm.

What's New Wednesday: Hear about all things new and exciting at WCPL every Wednesday at 8:30 am!

A Variety Of Verse: Enjoy a classic poetry reading from WCPL Programming Manager, Denver Henderson and guests on Thursdays at 1:00 pm! 

Cricut 101: Learn everything you need to know about using a Cricut machine with the YouTube series, “Cricut 101”. The series will be made up of 5 classes, taught by Edgerton Branch Library staff member Amy Curry. Classes are posted each Friday at 10:30 am.

Corn You Believe It?: WCPL staff members will take part in tasting challenges, featuring unbelieveable food and drink concotions, that will have you saying, "Corn You Believe It?" YouTube episodes will be posted on the Fridays of May 7th and 21st at 4:00 pm.


WCPL In-Person Story Times

Williams County Public Library is happy to announce that in-person story times have returned to all WCPL locations in Bryan, Edgerton, Edon, Pioneer, Stryker, and West Unity! All story times will require registration as space will be limited to accommodate social distancing. Masks/facial coverings must be worn while at WCPL for those visiting under the age of 10 years old. WCPL is so excited to once again hold in person story times, and the schedule is as follows:

Bryan: Spring Story Time is held weekly on Mondays at 11am, through July 26. Story Time is geared toward Pre-K, but all ages are welcome to attend!

Edgerton: Children of all ages can attend Story Time each Wednesday at 11am, through the end of May.

Edon: Bright Minds Story Time and the Homeschool Program will both be held twice weekly on Wednesdays at 11am and 1pm. Story Time is for Pre-K, and the Homeschool Program is for homeschooled students who are able to read and interact independently. Programs will be held in different areas of the library.

Pioneer: The Eaglets Story Time, for newborns through Kindergarten, will be held on Thursdays at 10:30am for a time of stories, crafts, and fun! Eaglets will run through May 13.

Stryker: Panther Paws for toddlers & preschoolers, will be held on Wednesdays of May 5, 12, 19, & 26 at 11am. There will be stories, crafts, finger plays, songs and more! Panther Kidz for Kindergarten-2nd Grade will be on Thursdays of May 4, 11, 18 & 25 at 3:15pm. Panther Pals for 3rd & 4th Grade will be held on the Mondays of May 10, 17, & 24 at 3:15pm, and will be held outside weather permitting. There will be stories, games, crafts, & snacks for the Panther Kidz and Panther Pals programs.

West Unity: Stories in the Park, for toddlers and PreK, will be held at Wabash Park on Wednesdays at 11:30am, through May 26. Children will listen to stories, sing, and dance!

CURBSIDE SERVICES are also available during open hours. Have your materials brought straight to your car by a WCPL staff member, and loaded through contactless delivery. With curbside services, you can also return materials, make copies, and/or send a fax. All materials are OPEN TO BROWSE. Stop in to any WCPL location and see what new items can be checked out, or scan the shelves to find an old favorite!

Computers are FREE FOR USE on a first come first serve basis at all locations. In addition to the open computers, the Bryan Main Library will have one computer available by appointment if needed. (The LHC Computer Lab will remain closed at this time. Open computers for Bryan are in the Main Library only)

FREE WI-FI is available at all WCPL locations and extends to the library parking areas.

WCPL will continue to WAIVE ALL FINES on overdue materials in appreciation to our amazing patrons. We thank you all for your continuous support for Williams County Public Library!
